Disease Control & Management Hub
NJORD developed the business plan, including a three year financial plan, and did the high-level IT strategy for the Department of Health in a Southern African country end of 2007. Broadreach Healthcare was contracted as the health expert consultant. The strategy that was defined has three key areas:
- Consolidation of existing disease surveillance and health data
- Impact and Coordination support
- Partnership mobilisation: Business and Communities
This initiative was launched in 2009.
Rural Transport Network, Africa
An initiative launched by Virgin Unite – the social enterprise of the Virgin Group – where health workers in developing countries are provided with motor bikes to deliver health care in remote communities across Africa.
NJORD assisted Virgin Unite by developing a financial plan and helped get the first pilot in Kenya off the ground by hands-on programme management. The assigment was later expanded to manage the full scale-up to other territories in Kenya, South-Africa and other countries.

Innovations Against Poverty
Sida (the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) has increased its focus on Business for Development and set up the Innovations Against Poverty to provide financial assistance and advise to companies with ideas for innovative ventures that include poor people in the business model. It was launched spring 2011
NJORD has been responsible for the global communications of IAP, initial screening of applications and is now managing part of the fund's grantees.
